It’s been such a long time, years in fact since I’ve posted in a diary format and honestly I really miss it.
With the eyes of my family and friends watching, I got a little self-conscious and stopped Blogging about my day to day and really just for fun as a creative outlet so I thought I’d bring back some diary style posts for those interested to check in with and for myself to look back on.
What have I been up to?
Ramadan is in full swing and I am really tired, the fasts are really long at the moment and the time to stop eating (Sehri) and stop fasting (Iftar) is really short.
Last night we nearly missed the Suhoor time because I said 5 minutes to my husband when he woke up at 1.30 am and then before we knew it, it was 2.50 am!
And the time finishes at 3.00!
But we rallied and scrambled and managed to neck something down Alhamdulillah so I did manage to eat something.
Other than that, there’s not a lot that’s been going on.
Your life pretty much goes on pause during Ramadan as it’s more about prayer, fasting and self reflection.
What have I been learning?
I signed up to Lucy Lucraft’s Pinterest course and have implemented some bits, but due to Ramadan and fasting my concentration levels have been very limited so I’m going to complete after Ramadan finishes In Shaa Allah.
If you do sign up and don’t intend to keep the membership, make a note of the date they’ll start charging you, and then cancel a few days before.
My aim is to take and implement one class a week because they’re pretty much bite sized and seem easy to follow.
The times range from 4 minutes to 2 hours depending on your subject matter and Skillshare is more geared towards Tech, Business and Personal Development but I’ve bookmarked a bunch of courses including a great Instagram one I’ve just done here.
So, am I going Vegan?
Well, Yes and No.
Madelene’s book Versatile Vegan is on 15% off offer (Use code SPRING at checkout until the code expires) and I ended up buying it and having had a quick glance it’s full of recipes for vegans or those interested in vegan diets.
They all look packed with flavour and having tried out a few recipes from her youtube channel, I’m excited to mix it up.
Personally, I find cookbooks to be too difficult as you always need a bunch of ingredients that are not easy to find or are reserved for special occasions.
But the Versatile Vegan cookbook has cupboard staples and I like how she makes Veganism accessible.
Even my husband’s given the thumbs up to some of the recipes!
I’m slowly trying to be more mindful of my waste consumption, use what I have and limit things that come into our home.
As some of you may know, I developed a little bit of a cleaning Obsession last year and I’ve learned a lot about cleaning, but during Ramadan, because of tiredness, I’ve slowed down a bit.
I mainly follow the Team TOMM method which has simple cleaning tasks for rooms every day and then a deep clean of one room every 8 weeks to keep on top of things with all cleaning to be done in 30 minutes.
Sounds like a dream right?
It’s a reality!
It takes a little more time the first cycle but I promise you, you’ll be done with certain areas in 10 minutes sometimes!
What I’m Listening To
I love a good podcast and the ones I’m really into right now is:
Vix Meldrew’s Exciting Emails – Perfect for Bloggers to get advice on everything from your About Page to Pinterest and everything in between.
Krishnan Guru Murthy’s Ways to Change the World – The channel 4 presenter has his own podcast with some great thought leaders, actors, activists and politicians.
The Ikonns – If you follow Mimi and Alex Ikonn, their podcast is great for a deep dive on lots of life issues and they always have a unique perspective.
In terms of Audiobooks, I just finished Mrs Hinch’s Hinch Yourself Happy on Audible which is all about, you guessed it cleaning!
But told in a really fun way with Mrs Hinch’s own voice all about her life before she was a cleaning sensation as well as some cleaning tips and downloaded The Sunday Lunch Club but have yet to listen to it.
To see what else I’ve been reading and listening to, do check out my Books category.
I think that’s enough for now, if you liked this post leave me a comment on what you’ve been up to and what you’ve been listening to or consuming lately that’s made you think.
